Costa Mesa, California (October 15, 2019) – Four people were injured in a chain-reaction collision involving a car that was traveling the wrong-way in Costa Mesa on Sunday morning.
According to a local news source, the accident happened at about 3:36 a.m. October 13, on 55 Freeway near Victoria Street.
The authorities said a gray Toyota Camry was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it crashed into a gray GMC.
The GMC rolled down an embankment while the Camry stopped in the leftmost lane where it was struck by a southbound Ford Expedition.
The driver of the Ford, 23-year-old Mostafa Hasanein was transported to Hoag Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the GMC, 55-year-old Steven Oatman and the driver of the Camry, 25-year-old Thong Nguyen were taken to Orange County Global Medical Center for treatment.
Also hospitalized was a passenger in the Camry identified as 25-year-old Tri Nguyen.
Thong Nguyen was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.
No further information was provided.
An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is underway.
