Nelson Velez-Segovia Killed in Bicycle Accident on 91 Freeway near Wilmington Avenue in Compton


Compton, California (October 12, 2019) – The authorities have disclosed the identity of a bicyclist who died after being struck by a car in Compton on Thursday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 6:40 a.m. October 10, on Gardena (91) Freeway near Wilmington Avenue.

43-year-old Nelson Velez-Segovia was riding a bicycle on the roadway when he was hit by a 2018 Toyota driven by a 51-year-old.

Velez-Segovia was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Information about the car driver was not immediately availed.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
