Santa Maria, California (October 8, 2019) – The authorities have disclosed the identity of a man who was killed in a collision involving a tractor-trailer in Orcutt last week Friday, October 4.
According to a local news source, the accident happened at about noon on Highway 1 near Black Road in front of Rancho Maria Golf Club.
52-year-old Rene Menjivar was driving a big rig loaded with celery when he collided with a Toyota Avalon for unknown reasons.
The big rig veered off the roadway after the collision and overturned.
A Volkswagen which was also involved in the crash overturned onto its roof after the collision.
Menjivar sustained fatal injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, 66-year-old Alan Bruce Durham, was unhurt.
None of the occupants of the Volkswagen was injured in the accident.
No other information was provided.
An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is underway.
