Niland, California (October 9, 2019) – The authorities have disclosed the identities of two people who were injured in a car accident in Niland, Imperial County, last week on Wednesday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at an unspecified time in the area of English and Schrimpf roads.
Andre Dos Santos De Sa was reportedly driving a Hyundai Elantra westbound on the roadway when it collided with a southbound Ford E-350 van at the intersection.
The impact of the collision sent the Hyundai up an embankment while the van veered off the roadway and crashed into a power pole.
An unidentified female occupant of the Hyundai was injured in the accident and was transported to a local hospital where she later died.
A 26-year-old female passenger of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene.
De Sa was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in unknown condition while the unidentified driver of the Van was transported to JFK Hospital in Indio for treatment of serious injuries.
29-year-old Cheng Zhang who was riding in the Hyundai was flown to Desert Regional Hospital for treatment.
No further information on the tragic accident was provided.
An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is underway.
