(October 7, 2019) – Wardell Nelson Jr., 61, was identified as the person
who was hit and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday morning in Vermont
Knolls, Los Angeles.
According to a local news source, the accident was reported
at about 3:34 a.m. October 6, at the intersection of Manchester Boulevard and
Nelson Jr. was reportedly crossing Figueroa Street when a
car that was traveling southbound struck him. The impact threw him into the
path of a silver Chevrolet Traverse which ran over him.
Nelson Jr. was killed in the collision.
The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene while the
driver of the first car fled and is being pursued by the police.
No further information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
