Five people were killed after a plane crashed early Friday morning near Lviv airport in western Ukraine.
The tragic crash is believed to have happened at about 07:10 local time (04:10 GMT) after the four-engine plane disappeared from radar.
The Ukraine Air Alliance military transport plane was headed to Istanbul from Vigo in Spain and was approaching Lviv International Airport when it crashed. The Soviet-designed aircraft is believed to have run out of fuel ahead of a planned stopover at the airport.
Seven crew members and one person who was escorting cargo were on board the ill-fated plane.
The plane crashed on soil and vegetation near a football stadium about one mile from the airport and did not catch fire.
Lviv airport was temporarily closed after the accident.
