Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton on NAACP vs Tea Party

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton on NAACP vs Tea Party – The NAACP recently accused the Tea Party protesters of harboring racists in their midst. The Tea Party quickly responded, with Sarah Palin saying that she did not know one individual within the Tea Party that judged people based on the color of their skin. The group was set to vote to condemn the party, who has had a number of their members make comments that can be construed as racist.
Both Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have stepped forward to downplay the move that has brought the NAACP under fire.
Jesse Jackson told reporters that the focus on the tea party was more of a “diversion” than anything else, and kept the group from focusing on the more important issues.

His statement does seem to be a bit of a contradiction, after Jackson was recently involved in a scandal, claiming that the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers had the mentality of a “slave owner” in the way that he handled LeBron James leaving.
The NAACP President, Ben Jealous, has been one of the most outspoken on the subject, and has continued to push the agenda in a number of speeches that he has made in recent days.
“I give a 42-page speech. Half a page is focused on the tea party,” Jealous said. “We need the media to pay attention to the issues that are most important to this country.”
