Wal-Mart Racial Announcement New Jersey:Teen Arrested

Wal-Mart Racial Announcement New Jersey:Teen Arrested – Last week, as shoppers shopped in a New Jersey Wal-Mart, a voice came over the intercom that asked all “black people to leave the store.” The story received national coverage and criticism this week. It has been announced that a 16 year old boy was recently accused of making the racial remarks over the intercom, although his name has not been released because he is a minor. If the boy is convicted, he could face up to a year in a juvenile detention facility, although it is highly unlikely that the young man would receive a sentence so harsh. It was reported that the manager of the Wal-Mart apologized over the intercom directly after the incident happened. It was not immediately clear if any of the customers who were currently in the store plan on pursuing legal action in the incident.

After the incident occurred, both Wal-Mart and the police department launched separate investigations into the matter. Surveillance cameras in the store were not able to capture the incident on tape. However, the cameras did show that three individuals, one of them being the suspected culprit, were standing in the area around the intercom just before the announcement was made. They were also later seen leaving the area after the announcement was made.
Local civil rights activists have already commented on the matter, saying that the incident “makes this sort of thing alright,” and went on to say that pranks like this are not to be tolerated or taken lightly. There has been no comment by the individuals who were reportedly involved at this point. Wal-Mart has said that they will consider adding additional security measures to their intercom system to ensure that incidents’ like this do not happen again.
