Apple iPad : Amazon Target Selling iPad – The Apple iPad is now available in both Target and amazon for purchase. The 32 GB and 64 GB Wi-fi models will be available on the websites and will sell for the same price that they do in the Apple store. The 32 GB version will cost $599 while the 64 GB version will cost $699.
Target will have all six models of the device on sale, while Amazon will only be offering two models. Target will only be offering the iPad in their store, while Amazon will offer them for online purchase. This has led to a number of third party retailers selling the tablet at marked up prices. One retailer was selling the 16 GB Wi-Fi model for $556.72 with $8.12 extra required for shipping. Of course, the model usually only costs $499 in the Apple Store.
Amazon will charge the applicable local tax on any iPad purchases. Individuals that take part in the Amazon Prime program will be eligible for free shipping. Since it is one of the most popular online retailers in the world, the iPad is expected to sell huge amounts through the store.
It is nice to see that the company is opening the product up to appear in other stores. They have only been offering them in Apple stores, and despite the fact that they sell very well, the company has not capitalized on the hype as much as they could have. The item will be a hot one during the Christmas season, and now customers will have multiple places to find the iPad.
